PhD contract for 3 years, start 01.04.2025
Supervisors: Prof. Dr. med. Angèle Gayet-Ageron and Dr. PhD Joelle Schwarz
The Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM) of Bern performs research in a range of disciplines relevant to public health (www.ispm.unibe.ch). Groups cut across divisions, facilitating an interdisciplinary approach to research in the fields of clinical epidemiology, social and behavioral health, biostatistics, and international and environmental health. The ISPM is highly reputed for its expertise in health effects of environmental exposures, the spread of infectious disease, and the health of vulnerable groups including children and the elderly.
The Research-on-Research Group, headed by Prof. Dr. med. Angèle Gayet-Ageron, conducts projects in the fields of clinical methodology, research ecosystem (role of gender), and patient and public involvement.
Women have long been underrepresented in clinical trials. The study of differences in research outcomes by sex and/or gender has not been done systematically. These gaps in knowledge partly explain health inequalities, often to the detriment of women. In your PhD project you will investigate if recent interventions promoting sex and gender have improved their integration in research protocols submitted to Swiss Ethics Committees.
